This month’s image shows not a product of SINAPSE imaging research, as featured in previous months, but rather some of our imaging research trainees. A welcome event at the University of Stirling brought together PhD students with SINAPSE funding and others working on selected SINAPSE projects, as well as recent recipients of PECRE awards for international research exchanges.
Prof Dave Wyper presented on the history of Scottish research pooling, including the first phase of SINAPSE, Dr Kristin Flegal provided an overview of processes and activities in the current, second phase of SINAPSE, and reports on PECRE exchange experiences were presented by Ellen Backhouse and Dr Sammy Danso from Edinburgh, Simon Ladouce and Dr Jamie Murray from Stirling, and Conor MacDonald from Dundee.
Following a presentation on scientific communication skills by Dr Fiona Millar from the Stirling Research and Enterprise Office, the event attendees prepared and recorded three-minute videos to describe their imaging research topics to a lay audience. The final results were some excellent examples of scientific communication for public engagement, which will be made available to view on the SINAPSE YouTube channel.
