Courtesy of Dr Sarah Allwood-Spiers and Dr Keith Gillis, this image was generated from diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) of the kidney in a patient 6 months after kidney transplant. As an imaging technique that characterises tissue microstructure, DTI is used as part of a multiparametric MRI study to identify imaging biomarkers of transplant function. DTI images were acquired on a Siemens 3T Prisma MRI scanner using 3 b-values and 20 directions. To create the image above, tracts were reconstructed from the diffusion tensors using TrackVis software.
