An opportunity is available to make a leading contribution to an EPSRC-funded Programme Grant “Surgery enabled by Ultrasonics”, working principally with Prof Margaret Lucas and Prof Sandy Cochran within Medical & Industrial Ultrasonics on the incorporation of smart materials, including new ultrasound materials, into miniaturised high-power ultrasonic surgical devices.

Specifically, the job requires expert knowledge in applying smart materials, including SMAs and/or piezoelectric materials, in devices, and the job will focus on miniaturisation and tunability of ultrasonic surgical devices enabled by smart materials.
