UPDATE: this event is being moved to a virtual format due to spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus.
The MIDL conference aims to be a forum for deep learning researchers, clinicians and health-care companies to take a leap in the application of deep learning based automatic image analysis in disease screening, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment selection and treatment monitoring.
The conference has a broad scope including topics such as computer-aided screening and diagnosis, detection, segmentation, (multi-modal) registration, image reconstruction and synthesis. Furthermore, we discuss issues such as the need for large curated and annotated datasets, noisy reference standards, and the high-dimensionality of medical data. Software demonstrations, presentation of medical data sets and innovative clinical applications are also covered as focus points for integration of deep learning algorithms in clinical practice.
MIDL currently offers a three-day program with keynote presentations from invited speakers, oral presentations, posters, and live demonstrations of deep learning algorithms from academia and industry.
Conference submissions follow two tracks: full conference papers and short papers. All accepted full papers will be published as a volume in the Proceedings of Machine Learning Research.
Full papers contain methodological developments or well-validated applications of deep learning algorithms in medical imaging. The papers will go through a full, double-blind reviewing process via OpenReview, with a two-week period for author rebuttal and discussion. A selection of full papers will be invited for oral presentation, whereas the rest will be assigned a poster presentation.
Short papers are up to 3 pages and can, for example, focus on novel methodological ideas without extensive validation. We also specifically accept short papers discussing recently published or submitted journal contributions to give authors the opportunity to present their work and obtain feedback from conference attendees. Selection of short papers is based on a light double-blind review process via OpenReview, without a discussion period. All accepted short papers will be presented as posters at the conference.
Full and short papers have the same deadlines:
- Paper registration deadline: 24 January 2020
- Paper submission deadline: 30 January 2020
