The University of Stirling seeks to appoint an experienced cognitive scientist focused on the examination of psychological questions in the real world. Researchers with a track record for combining basic theory driven science with a translational or impact focus will be prioritised (for example, cognitive neuroscience or neuropsychology researchers with experience investigating real world problems). Research in this area (tinyurl.com/jft8vpg) is supported by lab-based and mobile versions of eye-tracking and EEG, TMS and tDCS brain stimulation equipment, and a wide range of memory, attention and perception facilities. Researchers are sought with existing expertise in real world cognition (tinyurl.com/htkxgq3), but individuals with expertise and experience that complements and/or extends our existing methods and approaches are particularly welcome.

The post provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to a programme of innovative inter-disciplinary research within the Division of Psychology, enhancing existing research within the Cognition in Complex Environments and Behaviour & Evolution research groups. The successful candidate will have the motivation, enthusiasm and drive to help us achieve the University’s ambitious targets in relation to research and internationalisation set out in our Strategic Plan 2016-2021.

The post holder should be able to fully contribute to our high quality research environment and have the ability to apply their extensive knowledge and experience to enhance our teaching portfolio. Consideration will be given to applicants who can collaborate with other areas of expertise at Stirling, both within the Faculty of Natural Sciences and beyond, including researchers interested in developing real-world applications of psychological science in the context of the domains of Aging, Health, or Sport.  Researchers with an interest and expertise in multi-methods approaches to developmental issues, including Autism, are particularly encouraged to apply.
