A post-doctoral level position is available within the University of Edinburgh for a computer scientist in Modern Machine Learning Approaches for Medical Image Analysis, linked to the recently announced Health Data Research UK Scottish Substantive Site, one of only 6 such institutes in the UK.
The successful candidate will join an internationally recognised multidisciplinary team including clinical medical imaging experts, especially of the brain (Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences, Edinburgh), and in informatics, machine/deep learning and computer vision (School of Informatics, Edinburgh; CVIP/VAMPIRE, Computing Dundee).
The main purpose of this role is to develop robust medical image analysis systems and tools that can successfully process multi-modality heterogeneous medical imaging for consistent, accurate biomarker identification, diagnosis, risk stratification and quantification of common brain diseases at scale, ultimately for use in routine health care.
The post-holder will develop advanced solutions based on machine learning and deep learning. Relevant research experience in computer science including expertise to PhD level in machine learning or a strongly related field is required.
