This is a unique opportunity for a future clinical academic neuroradiologist to gain research training experience while working on the neuroimaging data in the European Prevention of Alzheimer’s Dementia, EPAD research programme.  http://ep-ad.org

You will be based in a world-leading Academic Neuroradiology Department (under Professor Joanna Wardlaw), partnering with the Centre for Dementia Prevention (CDP) at the University of Edinburgh, and collaborate closely with your counterpart academic neuroradiology trainee in the Radiology Department of Professor Frederick Barkhof, University Medical Centre Amsterdam.   The EPAD Programme is led academically by Professor Craig Ritchie (Director of the CDP). The University of Edinburgh is the managing entity of this pan-European, €64M IMI-funded research programme.  Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh was rated 3rd in the UK in the 2015 REF, and the successful candidate will join a growing team of senior academics and researchers dedicated to the prevention of dementia. The newly formed CDP brings together basic, clinical and social science under a single organizational structure to lead research into dementia prevention at a global level.

The post-holder will be expected to undertake a PhD based on the work.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate clear motivation towards research throughout their training, have a good medical degree, full registration with the GMC, radiology SPR status, FRCR or equivalent, a clear interest in neuroradiology, and ideally some relevant postgraduate experience in dementia or cerebrovascular disease neuroimaging.  You should have excellent organisational skills, good oral and written communication skills, and be able to work flexibly in a large multi-disciplinary international team. The post-holder will receive comprehensive training in a wide range of clinical research methods as well as neuroradiology relevant to all aspects of neurodegeneration including vascular disease.

This post will be primarily based in the Neuroimaging Sciences part of the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences, and Edinburgh Imaging at the University of Edinburgh, one of the World’s top 20 Universities.

This is a 3 year post at AMN2 (£32,478-£48,123)
