Two preclinical MRI neuroimaging posts are currently available at the University of Glasgow:

 

1. Research Assistant / Research Associate

The post-holder will contribute to a 3-year BBSRC-funded project studying cortical neural plasticity after peripheral nerve injury, using electrophysiology and high-resolution fMRI in rodents, working with Dr Jozien Goense and Dr John Riddell. The project focuses on development and application of (combined) electrophysiology and fMRI to address questions pertaining to cortical circuitry and plasticity in the different layers of the somatosensory and motor cortex. The position requires knowledge in experimental neuroscience, preferably electrophysiology and/or MRI, and an interest in technology and quantitative methods. There are also opportunities for translational collaborative work in the context of the human 7T facility in the Imaging Centre of Excellence (ICE) at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

2. Lecturer / Senior Lecturer

The appointee will develop and lead a research programme in neuroimaging and/or translational neuroscience in animals, whilst contributing to high quality teaching. The main criteria are research quality and potential to build an internationally competitive research group. The research programme should fit with the research objectives of the GEMRIC in the Institute of Neuroscience and Psychology, and ideally uses state-of-the-art techniques e.g., MRI, MRS and/or other innovative imaging methods, such as electrophysiology, optogenetics, chemogenetics in animals.
