Peter Horlock worked as a technical officer in the Radiochemistry section of the MRC Cyclotron Unit. His area of expertise was in effecting innovative technical advances in the production of cyclotron produced radiopharmaceuticals for clinical research. At the time of his untimely death at the age of 40 in 1988, the applications of his work were primarily in the field of positron emission tomography (PET).

The purpose of this memorial fund is to support graduate technical staff in advancing their work in the very specialized field of PET radiochemistry.

The UK PET Chemistry steering committee is pleased to accept responsibility for awarding these bursaries on behalf of the Medical Research Foundation.

Applications are welcomed from UK technical workers in the earlier stages of their careers in the field of PET radiochemistry application and development, with the aim to enable them to arrange and undertake working/fact finding visits to other PET radiochemistry sites or to attend scientific conferences both in the UK and further afield. Applicants must be working in, and employed by, an academic/NHS PET radiochemistry group.

Two awards will be made annually for applications for travel funds up to a maximum of £3k per award. In addition, lesser awards may be considered for UK working visits.

The deadline for submission is 31 July 2017.
