This clinical research fellowship will help run clinical trials of new interventions to improve outcomes in patients with lacunar stroke and other clinical presentations of cerebral small vessel disease. The fellow will also support studies using brain imaging to understand mechanisms of small vessel disease. Working within these studies will allow the post holder to gain vital skills in a wide range of clinical research, clinical trials, brain MRI, and experimental medicine methods.

This particular research environment is world-leading in clinical research in cerebrovascular diseases and dementia. The SVDs research group that the post holder will be working within at Edinburgh is at the forefront globally of research into SVDs, with imaging and SVD experts.

The work will provide an excellent basis for undertaking a PhD if the postholder does not already have a PhD, lead to an intermediate or senior clinical fellowship depending on experience and seniority.

This post is full-time (40 hours per week) but may be split with NHS sessions (depending on availability) and to facilitate maintaining GMC fitness to practice.
